Thank you 2025 for this year
Now we are approaching the end of the year, which makes me reflect on the past year and what is to come.
According to Chinese belief, 2026 is the year of the horse and not just any horse, but the year of the Fire Horse. This means that 2026 will be a year full of bold, fast, adventurous and expansive energy. This is in stark contrast to 2025, which is the year of the snake, which was more about quiet strategy, intuition, reflection and shedding old skin. This means that what we have visualized and desired now gains more intensity and power, and then it is important to clear away what is holding us back. These can be both limiting thoughts and behaviors to things, feelings and situations that make us feel stuck.
To take advantage of these last days that 2025 has to offer (and end the snake mode) and step into your true self for 2026 with full force, here are some tips for cleaning out your life. Because it's time.
Let's start with the insidious things that weigh us down the most...
Harmful self-talk
Personally, I will let go of stories like:
“I don’t know what I’m doing!” Which is true most of the time, but very depressing, so I replace it with “I’ll figure it out.” More empowering.
"What if it doesn't work?" A common thought, but still harmful. Instead, I'd rather focus on the possibilities and think, "How could this work?"
Old habits that don't serve you
Hello inconsistent (or non-existent) gym schedule, toxic friendships, plunging headfirst into four cups of coffee before any water has entered your system, or never closing the kitchen cabinets while cooking a culinary masterpiece...
Yes, you know what you do and what habits you have that you would rather... well, not do and not have.
Digital Trash (So Overlooked, So Satisfying)
On your computer, in your inbox, your camera roll… You might think it’s just a harmless accumulation because it’s not physical, but make no mistake, it takes up mental energy (and slows down your devices).
Actions: Delete and unsubscribe from emails (also a good habit to protect yourself from hackers who can steal your personal information from old emails that were never deleted!!!) Unfollow influencers who make you feel crappy Delete any apps you don't use (also a good security habit) Clean up your camera roll (I'm guilty of this myself but I promise you don't need all those screenshots)
The obvious: Real mess
Nothing slows you down mentally (and physically, since you're always moving things around) like clutter. Even Yale recently proved that too many things competing for your attention slows down how your brain processes information, making your mental "bandwidth" less efficient! Which is an absolute no-go in the Year of the Horse, where things will move quickly, and you need to feel light and uncluttered to keep up.
When in doubt, start with your office/desk or bedroom/nightstand (the two places you spend the most time). What you release now will be the wind at your back for next year's inevitable forward movement! Take advantage of the current energies and release, release, release. You will be grateful you did.
Let 2026 be the best year it can be! What will you start with?
Hug,
Eveline
